Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each day, students come into my classroom with a different set of needs that students are able to have met in my classroom. Throughout the school day, there are students engaging in the learning during the class period. There are also students coming in before school, after school and during lunch. Often time these other students are getting support and working on getting their needs met, whether it is through food, physical health or mental health.
Through the school year, many students come in to the classroom to have a specific need met that allows them to shift their focus onto rigorous learning.
It is not uncommon to see a student stop by to put on some lotion to deal with their drying skin. Many students will get a snack to make it through the day, especially as many students may be away from home for over 12 hours and need to address the things that they need. In short, a refresh of all the supplies that students utilize to address their needs helps students to make it through the day with success.
