My Students

There are a variety of reasons that my students and district are special, though I could be biased! I have the privilege of working in a district that is completely student-centered and "human-centered" as I like to call it. The district truly supports projects and initiatives to bring an engaging learning experience to students from every walk of life. Though as I am sure you can understand, it's hard to study when you're hungry or worried about your home life.

We work collaboratively to bring the most to our students though we still face various hardships.

Most of our students come from a low socioeconomic background and do not have many of the luxuries that others take for granted. Our school also does not have the funds to provide students with an abundance of resources. This is very disheartening because, in a world that is so technologically advanced, it is truly a disservice to our students to under prepare them for this competitive world. We do our best to not only feed, clothe, and nurture our students but to also give them many opportunities.

My Project

My students are the type of students who love to be engaged and have hands on experiences. That means that there is a lot of 'wear and tear' in my classroom. Items do not last long because they are significantly used. THIS IS AWESOME, but often means I am replacing a lot of items. I think it's time to work smarter!

I have also requested new refreshed items to help give my classroom a bright and enthusiastic appeal to entice my middle schoolers!

The shoe cabinet will make an excellent place to store classroom materials. The pencil sharpener will keep my students prepared and ready to go for class! The laminating sheets will allow us to preserve work so that it can be used again and again! My room needs a make over as many of the items in our classroom are well loved. New posters, decorations, and supplies will help us finish out the school year strong. The books will be shelved, and quickly will find their way into the hands of knowledge thirsty middle schoolers!
