My Project
I teach at a Title 1 school where the vast majority of my students are BIPOC. I want to help my seniors see where they are in the world, but more importantly, help them envision themselves in a future of their choosing.
We'll start by reading For Everyone by Jason Reynolds, where he gives life advice to all the dreamers out there.
Then, they will finish with a project entitled Reflecting on My Future. Students will brainstorm images, words, phrases, and symbols representing their hopes for the future and then create a physical mirror that conceptualizes these hopes, dreams, and visions for the future so that they can have a tangible embodiment of their futures.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
