Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title One, funded school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning, while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
My scholars are eager to learn, excel, and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for twenty years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
My Project
The requested materials will promote innovation, creation and making. We will use the resin to create and learn how chemistry works. The books will be used for writing, reflection and making designs. We can learn through communication, collaboration and consistency. These requested materials are all basic supplies for fab lab production and making in the school library.
The school library is a collaborative hub where many students come together, that would not normally interact in the course of their day.
Through making, tinkering and discovering, they can use their hands. Students creating is the highest form of critical thinking there is. These hands-on activities will inspire children to think outside the box. These items will also teach design thinking. Students will learn to problem solve and think analytically.
