Help me give my students a variety of diverse books to access in class for my students to feel represented in the literature they are reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my class are beginning to love reading, developing advanced writing skills, and being introduced to new math topics. They are excited to learn and are very creative. They are also working on building a growth mindset. Many students do not have access to books outside of my classroom. We are a Title I school and all students have access to free lunches.
My Project
The books will be used for independent reading, literature groups, and whole class read-aloud and discussions. The students will have the opportunity to read books that show representation of different cultures, values, and beliefs.
Celebrating diversity in the classroom through literature promotes an environment of acceptance and inclusion.
Books like 'Emmanuel's Dream' by Laurie Ann Thompson, and 'Wonder' by R.J. Palacio demonstrate how one can overcome adversity in the most challenging situations. This concept ties in with our focus on a growth mindset.
My students also enjoy reading graphic novels, 'New Kid' by Jerry Craft will definitely catch their attention and continue to help them build on developing a reading life.
