Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When working in a low-income school you often come across students whose basic needs aren't being met. This doesn't mean their families don't care and love them. My students sometimes are trying to make ends meet outside the school day.

In an effort to fulfill those needs, I would like to add to my Compassionate Care Closet within my classroom.

This would allow my students to fulfill their needs for hygiene, clothing, and food insecurities as they take on the world in their academics. In this phase, my focus is the food insecurities my students have. If students are not worrying about where their next meal will come from and how they are perceived by peers, they can focus more on their studies. I am hoping to store this in my classroom with an open-door policy to all my students and their families.
