This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

ISD's band program is a growing community with a rising number of students joining every year. Our mission in the ISD Band is to foster a safe, inclusive environment where students grow as musicians and creative people in today's society.

What better way to make the world a better place than through music!

Reeds are an essential component to making music for a lot of our young musicians. This project would take off the financial burden of buying reeds off at least a third of our entire program! The High School band program is an 8-time Sweepstakes recipient, meaning they have received a 1st division Superior rating in UIL Marching Band, Concert Band, and Sight-Reading Evaluations. The Rice 7/8th grade band recently placed 2nd place in their class at the Music In The Parks festival and were awarded the Espirit de Corps Award. This award is only given to one ensemble out of the entire day to the group that demonstrates exceptional positive attitude, outstanding personal behavior, and a spirit of cooperation throughout the event.
