Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is an inner-city, comprehensive public high school in Richmond, California. Over 85% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and over 95% are students of color.

The challenges many of our students face are profound and many of my students suffer from chronic trauma.

Despite these challenges, my students are driven and determined to gain musical skill and be the best they can be. My students love studying music room and their eagerness to learn is a constant source of inspiration. They deserve more.

With your support, our music program can become a beacon of lifelong learning and opportunity for our kids and community. Thank you for your support.

My Project

At our school, any student that wants to learn a musical instrument can do so as long as they are enrolled in a music class. We supply everything: instruments, sheet music, supplies, and of course: instruction. We do this because of our commitment to equity and our mission that every student can and should have access to a well rounded education, which includes education in instrumental music.

This project seeks to outfit our bands with enough reeds to keep on playing.

Sadly, funding is tight and it looks like our already meager budget for supplies will be reduced next year. With your help and generous contributions, my students will be able to continue making music till the end of the year, and start strong on day one of next year.
