My music students need woodwind reeds, violin bows and sanitizer.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Roberts's classroom raised $472
This project is fully funded
I teach Music at a charter school, grades K-8, in a high-need community and these kids rock! We just incorporated band and orchestra into the school day for grades five through eight. I taught after school Music for 2 years, (and general Music during the day) so it is great that instrumental Music is part of our schedule. In the area in which I teach, only 28% of the schools offer Music. That is not enough in a big city. These kids practice very hard and are quite impressive. I love their enthusiasm and I need to provide them with the proper tools to be successful. Anything I can do to make this happen is very important to me because this student population has a love of Music that is unequal to any other.
We do not have enough instruments or supplies and have to share them. With flu season amongst us, we must be as sanitary as possible. With our terrible economic situation in our state, most parents cannot provide the students with what they need. As a matter of fact, most parents cannot afford to even by reeds for woodwind instruments. My funding is extremely limited and I desperately need support to get the supplies I need. The more supplies I receive means the more money I will have to possibly get another instrument. Considering that many of the students have to share instruments already, every little bit of extra money helps with the instrumental situation. My mission is to work with what I have to make a sanitary learning environment so that I can give these children the best learning environment possible.
The sanitizer will help to keep shared instruments clean; reeds are essential to playing woodwinds, and bows are needed for violins to be used. Most of my instruments are used or come with inadequate bows that break easily and/or are already broken. Without these necessities, many students would not be able to play all year long without having days off because we do not have the needed supplies.
With your help and generosity, all of my students will have a sanitary learning environment and the equipment they need to participate everyday. Woodwind instruments will have reeds and violins will have working bows. These children have an undying love for Music and your donations will help their love of Music to come to fruition throughout the entire year.
