it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have developed a love of playing music over the course of the year. For half of my students, September was their first time ever learning to play an instrument.
Our school provides all resources for band classes, at no cost to students and their families.
Because of the pandemic, we have had a budget freeze and the band has not been able to restock supplies. We have been coasting on our large supply of reeds purchased in 2019, but are beginning to run low! This project seeks to replenish our drawer of reeds!
For woodwind instruments, reeds are essential. The instrument does not make any sound without a vibrating reed. As students progress, their reed strength must increase to help them play better in tune, and develop a more full tone. This project requests reeds in multiple strengths and sizes to equip everyone in our band with the right tools for success!
