My Project
Our band program is growing — and so is our clarinet section! What started with just four students has grown to 17 eager young musicians. Unfortunately, we simply don’t have enough working clarinets to go around. With your help, we can give each student a quality instrument, ensuring every child has a fair shot at musical success.
My students are resilient, creative, and hungry to learn.
Over 85% of them come from low-income households and often face challenges far beyond the classroom. Yet, when they enter the band room, their eyes light up. Music gives them a space where they can express themselves, feel proud of their progress, and work together as a team.
For many of them, school can be stressful — but music is a place where they can succeed, belong, and be heard. This project will provide new clarinets to support the growing number of students who want to participate in our school band. Playing a musical instrument like the clarinet doesn’t just bring joy — it also builds discipline, improves focus, and strengthens memory. Studies show that students involved in music programs often score higher on standardized tests and experience boosts in self-esteem.
Right now, we don’t have enough working instruments to serve our expanding clarinet section. Some students are waiting for shared instruments or using damaged ones that make learning frustrating. With new clarinets, we can remove those barriers and set every student up for success.
Band is more than a class, it’s a community. It helps students build confidence, develop leadership, and feel like part of something bigger. For many of my students, playing music is their first opportunity to feel accomplished and celebrated.
