My classroom is an exceptional children's Pre-K located in a public school. Our county is very small rural community. My classroom is a self contained classroom, serving students from ages three to five years old. Every student has some type of identified need, which requires intervention services, often in several areas. Every student my classroom has an IEP with personalized goals. Students enter my classroom all year, as children transition from early intervention to school services on their third birthday, they do not have to wait for the next school year.
My Project
Clifford's "Big World" magazines for preschoolers are colorful, inviting and exciting. They make for the perfect magazine to send home with students. By sending home information that is connected to the content being shared in the classroom, students are able to share part of their school experience with their families. This strengths the family/home and school bond. It promotes parent and child interaction, and strengths the students emotional and social connections at home and shows the child that parents support their school experiences. In a time with more parents working, and hectic schedules outside of work, it is more import than ever to encourage early parent involvement and make positive connections between home and school.
