My third-grade students learn in a Title I school near a military base. Many of our students have experienced some type of family transition (single parent home, blended family, divorce/separation, low income, etc). The majority of my class deals with other personal issues including ADHD and anxiety. The majority of my school receives a free or reduced-price lunch. The students at my school are all hard workers. They come to school every day, ready to learn.
My third-grade students are a very active bunch and are capable of doing amazing things this year.
My students set goals for themselves and they achieve them. They are smart, kind, and caring. They work hard as individuals and come together as a team.
My students are eager to learn and love whole group activities that allow them to listen to stories, cooperate with peers and attend to technology lessons. Our community has a high population of military families. We have a supportive community and administration, however, there are fewer funds for classroom resources.
My Project
Our classroom is requesting Scotch thermal laminating pouches to make reusable classroom tools and games. Not only do the laminating pouches help to save paper, but also time. Instead of spending hours at the printer making new worksheets and task cards, laminated materials will and can be reused over and over again.The lamination pouches will make a huge difference in my students learning. The pouches not only will be available for me to create numerous manipulative that students can use, write on and erase on, but I will also be able to laminate awards and projects that the students can share with their family.
