My students are 3 and 4 years old and they have not quite learned the art of being gentle with paper materials yet.
My students attend a neighborhood school in our nations capital with a free and reduce lunch rate of 100%.
Most come to school each day just so they have something to eat. Despite the odds and challenges that face them in their neighborhood, they are eager to learn and love school. We use the Tools of the Mind Curriculum which is extremely hands on and play-based.
My Project
The laminator and laminating pouches I am requesting will be used to laminate student materials. Being able to have play-based materials laminated will allow for students to fully access the curriculum. Laminating the resources will make them more durable and allow for them to be written on with dry erase markers and then used again. Students can write a grocery list during our grocery theme, take an order during our restaurant theme, or give a health exam during our hospital. These materials will always be ready at a moments notice for students and they will not have to worry about all the copies being used. They just need to erase and start again.
This project is so important because it will make the curriculum more accessible to students and will make the materials constantly ready to be used with little prep time from me.
Students will be able to write and use the laminated materials as many times as they would like without having to worry about running out of paper copies to use.
