My Students

My students are an eager bunch of kids. They have gone through a lot last in the past school year, and they are excited to be back in school. They are motivated to learn. They want to learn.

I teach in a low-income school where my students are faced with challenges most students do not have to deal with.

Many of them are English Language Learners and are slowly beginning to learn the language. Some students have struggled with online learning and have fallen behind while other kids are at grade level. There are so many different academic abilities in my class.

My Project

The key to fostering a love of reading is to have a large variety of books available for your students at their academic level. That used to be a possibility in my classroom. However, when schools got shut down last year, many of my classroom books never made it back to school. Although I am happy that my old students have something to read when COVID-19 first came, my current students do not have those great books.

What I am asking for your help in doing is to replenish the books that went missing so I can foster a new love of reading in my current and future students.

Students need high interest books at their academic levels. Without these, kids won’t want to read. But with your help, we can make that a possibility.
