This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 28 3rd graders at my school. It is a Title 1 school serving a diverse population consisting of World-Relief students, English Language Learners, and a variety of social and economic statuses. We are dedicated to providing our students with access to a quality education through a highly qualified staff, a 1:1 pilot program, and individualized learning. My students are performing at a wide spectrum of academic levels (1st grade through 4th grade level), and it is imperative that they not only receive differentiated instruction, but also the opportunity to learn in differentiated learning environments.

My Project

I am asking for 2 tables so I can add flexible work areas and breakout spaces in conjunction with reducing the desk to student ratio. During independent work times students will choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive from their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. I believe making sure my students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them.
