This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a middle school that serves sixth- through eighth-grade students where over 75% receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our student population is very diverse and comes from a variety of elementary backgrounds including STEM schools. Currently, I am teaching PE and health with many restrictions during a pandemic, which is the wildest thing I have ever seen in my 34 years in education.

My students are inquisitive, explorative, eager to learn, and excited.

They are ready for a challenge!

These students have had to learn how to do school including their exploratory classes in a crazy time. They are adapting well. It is our job that, when they return to PE we have everything they need with the restrictions we are required to follow.

My Project

Having a visual timer with red and green lights will help keep students and teachers moving in an effective way through the stations in the Fitness Lab. Time management is huge and with a timer there will be no time waisted. Teachers will not have to watch a clock and tell students to rotate.

We will be able to focus all of our attention on students and their technique while using weight equipment, not on a clock.

This timer has an adjustable setting for different length station work times and rotation times. It also has a audible beep to help students know it is time to rotate to the next station.

Now we will have the ability to set the perfect workout times for different grade levels and focus on what's important...the students!
