My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and together in our classroom form a community that has fun learning! Our classroom is a place for rigorous learning where students learn to persevere and do their best. Kindergarten is such an exciting time of growth socially and academically for students as it is the first formal schooling for many.

Students in my classroom enjoy lots of literature and hands-on learning.

Some of our favorite experiences are learning about science including 5 senses and weather. We especially enjoyed learning about different tastes. We loved tasting sweet sugar but only some of us liked the bitter dark chocolate. Our classroom has a diverse range of needs and includes students who receive services for speech as well as learning and emotional disabilities. The best part of being a member of our classroom community is that everyone experiences success!

My Project

Teaching based in literature is an amazing way to introduce and extend concepts in all the curricular areas from reading to math and science and social studies.

I have built a collection of amazing books to use in the classroom throughout the year, but need a place to store them where they can be at my fingertips for use in instruction and enjoyed by my students!

Currently, I dedicate storage in my guest room closet at home for many of my books and bring books back and forth from school to home as needed. This is due to lack of storage at school AND a need to pack up the classroom each year for the floors to be cleaned. Keeping my large collection of books at school in a traditional bookcase is impractical, as the bookcase has to be dragged across the floor more than once each summer to allow for carpet cleaning.

BUT! I have found an amazing solution in this bookshelf with wheels! It will allow for enough storage for me to keep my books at school AND move them during the summer so the carpets can be cleaned and my book collection kept safe and accessible to my students!
