Recreation for Regulation

Help me give my students a more meaningful outdoor experience by funding our garden supplies and fun activities we can do as a class together.

My Project

Our students are engaged learners who need a lot of new experiences to keep school interesting. We incorporate a lot of sensory exploration, social/emotional learning, and life skills adaptation in our curriculum. Outdoor exploration is the perfect fit to meet all of these needs.

I am requesting various garden supplies in order for us to do a fun and engaging class project together.

We will improve motor skills by planting seeds and digging with spades. Students will work side by side on their own garden sections, also encouraging parallel play and socializing in a way that our kids feel comfortable.

We also requested other fun outdoor activities such as a kite, outdoor paint, and a bubble machine. These are things to get our students engaged with being outdoors, and having more options at recess or when they need breaks outside of the classroom. Spring is here and our class is ready to spend more time in the sunshine!

The last piece of the requested items are for hygiene and life skills-related learning. We have several students learning how to eat, drink, brush teeth, and wash hands. The spoons, cups, and snack bowls are for our eating times. We also have one parent who has been providing diapers and wipes for three students in our class (two of which are not their own child) so we would like extras so we are not burdening a family with providing toileting items.
