This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching Exceptional Children is such a rewarding career. Not only are my students pushing themselves to close their learning gaps, but I too, am learning from them!

Our school population revolves around high-diversity, socio-low economic, low demographics, and many English Learners and New Comers!

With a variety of students, cultures, races, and learning habits, we as teachers are always trying our best to provide our students with the best learning environment. Many students that come to us from different countries may have never stepped foot in a school building before! Here at WJMS, I strive to provide and give our students comfort, support, and the tools needed to be successful in education, but in life as well!

My Project

When teaching middle school kiddos, one must be creative. Providing a "home-like" classroom, where students feel comfortable, promotes a positive learning environment.

Given the demographics of our population, school can sometimes be a "safe place" where students feel like they can be themselves, which is why I have chosen these items to enhance my classroom.

It is important for our students to experience life skills, along with their academics, during the school day. The items chosen for this project are tools my students will use on a daily basis to practice organization, and proper care of materials, all while grasping a sense of "home".
