it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard-working third graders from a low-income environment. They all have their own individual and unique personalities but come together to create a family dynamic within my classroom. My students come to school each day with a smile on their faces.
They are smart, adventurous, and eager to learn.
Our school is located in Arizona. We often lack classroom funding, and our parents are not capable of helping beyond their means. This means my students often must go without. These students deserve more.
My Project
Throughout the year, we will be working on improving our school's reading literacy and comprehension. Although there are many different ways to do this, we often ask students to work in partnerships. Having recording devices will allow me to hear what each partnership is discussing as well as keep them on task.
Listening to a recording of their peers reading the story they are reading is shown to improve fluency.
Having recorders will give my students the opportunity to record themselves reading a book. These recordings then can be played back by other students while they are reading along. Doing this promotes appropriate intonation and speed. Utilizing these recorders in multiple ways will greatly benefit my students.
