This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third grade students are beginning from scratch, as this is the first year that music will be offered at this school. Being older elementary students, they are going to want to get their hands on an instrument and dig right in! I would love to harness their curiosity and natural musical ability.

These third graders are so hungry for music!

They are curious and eager to learn, so I can't wait to hopefully put these recorders in their hands and help them to create music independently. The school is just one of 33 schools in this city, and is working very hard to be the strongest community possible for its students. Parents of many of the students currently attending went through the same school system.

My Project

My third grade students would each benefit from their own recorders for their first year of music. They will learn proper fingerings, intonation, how to read, follow, and count notation, and how to play in harmony! This will be the first year that music is offered at their elementary school.

Your donations will transform the experience of these students who have never had the opportunity to interact with music in school before.

Being able to create, share, and experience music using the materials you have provided for them will undoubtedly create meaningful memories and priceless lessons!
