Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of joy. They may not all have the best home lives, but they try their hardest and are willing to make mistakes in order to learn. The music room is a place for them to come and feel welcomed and happy.
My students are motivated, hard-working, and full of love.
They come from many different backgrounds. Many of them do in fact come from struggling families. They do not get the chance to play a lot of instruments, and so whenever I can bring in something new for them to learn, their faces light up and they get so excited. Whether it's a small set of bells or a large drum, they are always so excited to try something. They are so grateful for everything they get.
My students are just incredible.
My Project
Recorders are extremely helpful for elementary music in furthering a student's musical knowledge. Through recorder, they will learn to play an instrument, play as a group, and start to read music. They will also learn responsibility. Each student will have their own instrument: they will be responsible for the instrument and taking care of it.
Recorders are a rite of passage for elementary students.
Almost everyone remembers learning to play the recorder in elementary school. Unfortunately, many inner-city students do not get this chance. Help me change this and supply these instruments to my students.
