My students need 99 recorders to boost their overall education. Recorders will develop their music reading skills, writing skills, and allow them to be an ensemble member.
As the new music teacher at my school, I was surprised to discover that the students do not have access to pitched instruments would like to broaden the students horizons by providing them the experience of music performance. This will give the students the opportunity to be a part of something!
The students at my school are a melting pot of culture.
There are students from Poland, Mexico, India, and more! The students are big on friendship, collaboration, and eager to learn about different cultures, especially their own. I teach approximately 360 students a week, and they are passionate about their education, and are excited to learn more about music, whether it is playing a music game, dancing, singing, or performing on instruments.
My Project
Recorder is called the "demon instrument" by adults because of it's high-pitched, honky sound, but to a music teacher, hearing those sounds brings me pure joy! Recorder is an important stepping stone in music education. Providing the students the opportunity to play recorder aides in their future music performance. Recorder is a wind instrument, and for my students with no band experience, this provides them the experience to play an instrument using their wind power. Not only will recorders provide performance experience, but playing the recorder will develop the students' ability to read music. By reading music, students can adjust to learning other instruments, and even aide in music composition. Also, by learning the recorder, the students can learn about other countries and culture. By using recorders in the classroom, I can integrate cultural music that relates directly to each and every student. This will make music class educational, relatable, and fun for my students.
By funding Recorder Rock-a-thon, you are providing my students with their first wind performance experience.
By providing recorders to my students, you are providing these students with an instrument to develop their sense of responsibility and ownership. Recorders allow the students the opportunity to play an instrument among friends and become a part of something bigger than themselves- something special, which allows them to shine as an individual, and as a part of a community.
