This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students here at our elementary are amazing. They are motivated and eager to learn. They love accepting new challenges that are given to them. They strive for excellence.
Most of these 3rd and 4th graders are from low income families and experience challenging situations outside of school everyday.
However, "my babies" come to school ready to take care of business and work hard. I think that is special. And I believe that they will go far in life.
My Project
My students use the Quaver, computer based curriculum. This curriculum requires that they include an instrument to apply basic skills and knowledge learned throughout the year.
My 3rd and 4th grade students will used their recorders to expand prior knowledge, demonstrate grade level standards, and fulfill the their curriculum requirements.
They will be able to apply music theory, technique and pedagogy skills to this instrument. They will also be able to learn and perform a variety of fun songs from different genres of music. They will be able to demonstrate proper technique and posture for playing their record. Lastly, they will have something to call their own and take pride in taking care of their instruments.
