This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

“Take care of yourself-Take care of one another-Take care of [our school's name].” When students display actions that uphold our motto, they are acknowledged with a Bronco Star. Think of Bronco Stars like lottery tickets in which students put them into a raffle box in the front office. Each week, several students’ names are drawn and they are able to win various prizes.

Acknowledging students for making good decisions will help build morale, foster pride, and make the learning environment a more positive and inviting space.

In many cases, students do everything that is expected of them but are not always recognized for the positive choices they make on a day-to-day basis. The gift cards requested in this project are amazing gifts for our kids because they give students the freedom to choose how they would like to reward themselves. They can splurge on a nice treat for themselves or purchase something out of necessity. Students are given the first gift of recognition followed by something that they can choose that is meaningful to them. It's a win-win!

With our impressionable middle school students, recognizing the good things they do can make a world of difference in their disposition about the content matter, learning, and their own self-worth.
