Recognizing Our Feelings

Help me give my students books that help them recognize their feelings. The Boy with Big, Big Feelings and the Little Spot feelings books will help students identify their own feelings.

My Students

The students at my school are bright, energetic, and curious. The school is diverse in culture, language, and student needs. My students love to read, learn, use technology, and socialize.

Our student population is becoming more diverse and some students require additional supports in and out of the classroom.

Some students benefit from small group counseling in the areas of social skills, making and keeping friends and regulating their emotions.

While school budgets are tight, student needs are on the rise. Creating projects on DonorsChoose.org helps us to meet our students' needs.

My Project

Students will recognize feelings like stress, anxiety, sadness, and anger discussed in the books and make connections to the book(s) and characters.

I plan to use The Boy with Big Big Feelings and the Little Spot of Anger, Anxiety, and Sadness in my classroom lessons and also with students in small groups and individually.

Reading books about feelings to students helps them recognize that we all feel feelings but we need to manage our feelings. These books will help teach students about self-regulation.

Some of my students have BIG feelings and haven't learned how to articulate them. These books will help students put words to their feelings.
