My Students
We are a Title I school that offers free breakfast and lunch to all children. Our second grade scholars live in a high poverty neighborhood. Our community is located in an inner-city area. About 85% of our students identify as African American, 5% Latino, 2% White, 1% Asian, and 9% multi-racial.
Labels and test scores do an injustice to our scholars and teachers.
My scholars and I refuse to accept failure. If you could see our children, you would understand that they are full of potential and that they are future leaders and innovators. Our students are perseverant, motivated, enthusiastic, and driven to succeed. We will bridge the poverty gap, and they will achieve!
My Project
Our second grade scholars work hard every day to achieve academically and fulfill the tenets of our school - be Respectful, be On Task, be Courageous, and be Kind. Our children R.O.C.K it every day, every way!
I would like to reward our students with incentives that they work diligently to earn and that they have requested.
Our scholars' efforts are rewarded with classroom cash that they can use to purchase items from our classroom store. We are requesting incentives that include sports equipment such as footballs, jump ropes, hula hoops, and playground balls. I know that our scholars would also enjoy novelty items such as googly eyes, sticky hands, Chinese checkers, magnetic marbles, and magnetic floating rings. Our classroom store not only rewards students for positive behaviors but it also teaches students financial literacy. Please help us recognize the tremendous efforts our scholars make each and every day!
