My Project
Safe spaces in a classroom consist of allowing students to go and relieve stress, calm down, and recharge their emotions before going back to learning. This will be our first school year of extended instruction. In my classroom, I have safe spaces. A safe space supports students' social-emotional learning by teaching these students to focus on their good emotions and manage their challenging emotions.
One way to help children learn how to self-regulate is by providing them with nutritional snacks in the calm-down corners.
In this space, I will be able to give nutritional snack, cold drinks during the extended school days. Also, these classroom safe spaces will be equipped with books that address healthy ways to manage emotions. These snacks and books will help cultivate the safe space inside our 2nd grade classroom.
