Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We provide over 1,000 students with an education every year. Most of the student population is of Hispanic background, but there are also students with Asian, African American, Middle Eastern and Caucasian backgrounds. Our school is in a high poverty area of Chicago.
However, the lack of resources and the large population does not hide the curiosity of my 6th graders to continue their learning process.
Every day they come into the classroom highly motivated and intrigued to learn. They come from amazing and loving families that support them to receive the best education that as children they may have not received. I am sure that with their motivation, additional supports and resources, these outstanding 6th graders will reach their highest potential.
My Project
As we are expanding the number of Chromebooks in our classroom, we do not have a place to store and charge them. They are currently being stored in a cabinet, so they are not ready for student use the next day. The students have to sit next to chargers to use the computers.
With a charging cart, the Chromebooks will be stored and charged at the same time ready for student use!
Every night we have to store the computers in a locked cabinet to keep them secured. Having a cart will also help maintain the computers in good condition to last us as long as possible.
