My Students

My students are from a school where most students receive free or reduced lunch. We are located in rural Eastern Kentucky and the students are very proud of that. My students love learning and love being active outside of school. They are involved in many different activities such as sports, band, drama, etc. Such programs help keep our students out of trouble and off of drugs that have become a problem in almost every town or city in America. I am proud of my students and all of their accomplishments and only want the best for them.

My Project

In my classroom, we use D cell and 9 Volt batteries every day in our equipment. These items are very pricey and they do harm to our planet when they are dead.

With rechargeable batteries, we can save our classroom and our planet.

These items will teach students how to be economically responsible and environmentally responsible. The students have already realized how much money the regular batteries cost and they are very careful to make sure that all equipment is turned off, but still with 8 hour day 5 days week, they go fast. The students would benefit because there would be more classroom funds going to other items instead of batteries. They would also see how easy it to be environmentally friendly.
