My Project
No one can argue the importance of recess for children. In elementary school, it is important for physical activity and the development of social skills. When our new school was built, our playground was only equipped with a large play structure, a balance beam, and a twirly stool. Those three things are not enough to service the diverse interests and capabilities of one class during recess, let alone 2 or 3 classes on the playground at once.
In the last several years, our team has worked hard to collect additional high-quality structures and appropriate outdoor toys so the kids can have a variety of experiences at recess.
All children will have access to the same materials, despite where they play when they are home. The materials in this project will make our playground well rounded, providing a safe space for every child. If they are feeling more calm, they have a space to read or play quietly. If they are feeling more energetic, they have a place to climb, run, yell- whatever they need to be successful for their day!
