This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come in like little sponges - ready to soak up all we have to teach them, regardless of their starting points. I'm looking forward to a new year with bright shiny faces depending on me!
Most children come from low-income families and the entire district gets free breakfast and lunch.
The situations the children come from do not provide them with an educational foundation however, their willingness and excitement about learning are not diminished. Although the students come from neighborhoods all over the city, we have a safe learning community that everyone contributes to.
My Project
My students need equipment to use at recess to increase their physical coordination and to simply have fun with! Many of our students don't have the opportunity to play outside because they don't have a yard or the neighborhood they live in is unsafe. With this new equipment students will be able to improve their large motor skills using the different balls, hoola hoops, and jump ropes. They will increase their hand-eye coordination with ring toss games, frisbees, and toss and catch games. We have great green space for the children to run around but we need equipment so they can engage in some organized play.
