Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of teaching an eager group of diverse kindergarten students whose commonality is the eagerness to learn!
Our school is a Title 1 community and it requires diverse learning experiences to help develop background knowledge that is essential in closing learning their gaps.
These diverse learning experiences will also give my students a glimpse into the diverse opportunities of their awaiting workforce.
Due to their social economic status, a majority of my students have limited enriched learning experiences. This is especially true when it comes to technology. I do not believe these deficits should determine their future learning opportunities.
My Project
Recess should NEVER go out of style! Today's child just needs good old fashioned toys like bean bag games, balance beams, catching mitts, and running toys to get their bodies moving and the brains engaged.
Budget cuts have diminished our play yard to bare asphalt and a few slides and our students deserve more!
Outdoor play is more important than ever. For most of our students, the school yard is the only outdoor play they get and they should have equipment available that will engage their gross motor skills as well as their social interactions. A stimulating recess experience benefits the "whole child" and improves overall classroom behavior!
