My goal for this "Recess Fun For Everyone!" project is to provide my kindergarteners with opportunities to develop their gross motor development during outdoor play. In addition, we need materials to organize our recess equipment so that it is easily accessible to my students.
Play is vital for children's development, providing children with physical, mental, and social benefits.
It increases physical activity, strengthens motor skills, improves mental health, and encourages social interaction with peers. I will achieve this with the soccer balls, footballs, kick balls and jump ropes.
Through this project, I hope to reach all of my students' learning needs by providing my students with engaging, developmentally appropriate, and purposeful activities. My classroom is comprised of 18 kindergarten students, which include English Language Learners, and only half had prior preschool experiences before coming to kindergarten. In addition, our school is a Title I school with more than 54% of our students come from economically disadvantaged families.
Furthermore, our school uses AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) to help the students organize their materials and supplies. The backpack and laundry baskets will serve as storage for our recess equipment and easy to transport from our classroom to the playground and back to our classroom. A well-organized classroom is essential in providing a positive and productive learning environment, as it enhances student engagement, facilitates smoother transitions, and minimizes distractions, ultimately leading to better academic performance and social-emotional well-being.
