This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
We are a very data-driven school. Scholars are always encouraged to work to their full potential. Scholars are assessed in a variety of subject areas five times per week. They work super hard and they are eager and excited to learn. This means that their brains are always working overtime. Students are always rewarded for their hard work and effort!
My scholars are given the opportunity for 15 minutes of recess per day.
On rainy and cold days, this means that indoor recess will need to occur. Oftentimes, scholars sigh when they discover that we will need to host recess within our classroom. This in part due to our lack of indoor, recess equipment.
Recess is a short time for students at school but can be one of the most important parts of the day for children. Recess provides a break for students from learning. Students need recess because it provides them an essential part of their development. Students learn how to interact with other students and practice social skills, learn communication skills, and practice self-control. Having a variety of board games, stem activities, dice, and building toys will allow me to boost my students' learning achievement through breaks with free play.
