Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach third grade in the South Bronx. Because of our location, our students have very limited play space for recess. Also, there are many days when the weather is inclement and students are forced to spend their recess sitting in the auditorium. Because of this, I would like to supply the students with a variety of games and other constructive activities that they can amuse themselves with during the recess period. Our third grade is large, so this would require having enough activities for over 300 children. Recess is the only time of day when students are able to unwind, and giving them constructive activities will reduce the amount of behavior problems and boredom during recess. It will also leave the children more eager to learn in the afternoon.
