My Project

One of the many challenges of teaching today is student's mental health. As a child of the 80's and 90's, mental health was not ever something I considered, heard about, or what supported with during my adolescence.

Today's kids need mental health support.

There is no doubt that they know what it is, have heard about it, and some even have coping mechanisms in place already. My hope is to have a place in my room where kids can check in through certain apps on an Apple iPad mini and share with me privately or just leave a message for later. There will be apps where they can just receive a message of joy or color or doodle for a minute or two. Our shared computers are very visible to their peers and they might not always be comfortable sending me and email. There will also be apps for other tasks to make it not so obvious is someone wants to check in.
