Rebuilding Our Community Gardens One Plant At Time

Help me give my students potting soil and multiple drainage pots so that they can heal their community by rebuilding their gardens one plant at a time.

My Project

We are giving back to our community so we can appreciate the process of healing after a year of struggles. I need to help my students help our community feel whole again. Uniting within our classroom, campus, and community will help all of us move forward with a positive attitude in the hardest of times.

Taking part in rebuilding different family gardens will help my students feel a sense of belonging and be motivated to care for and cultivate a new healing community with one plant at a time.

My students will learn to schedule planting time, watering, and harvesting. They will build social interaction with one another as they work in groups. They learn responsibility by organizing themselves by rotating different chores to ensure they can raise 50 Papaya trees at a time to replace the trees lost in our community a year ago. They also need to be able to plan how they will get these trees ready for KeAlii Night so that the community can pick up their trees for their garden.
