Rebuilding Futures After the Storm

Help me give my students paper, pencils, flashlights, water, and snacks so they can be safe during a tornado.

This project expired on May 31, 2024.

My Project

My class consists of 25 energetic first graders. I teach in a Title 1 school and 100% of my students receive free lunch. My students come from low socioeconomic homes, and many of my students struggle to bring school supplies and snacks to school.

Over the years, tornadoes have left a devastating impact on our school, displacing families and disrupting the lives of my students.

Many families are struggling to meet basic needs, and my students are facing challenges on continuing their education due to the loss of essential school supplies. Additionally, the disruption in daily life has created food insecurity issues, leaving children vulnerable to hunger.

The primary goal of the project is to provide immediate relief and support to my students who have been profoundly affected by the recent tornado. First, I want to ensure the continuity of their education buy supplying essential school supplies material, including paper, pencil, glue sticks, and backpacks. Second, I want to address the urgent issue of food insecurity by distributing snacks packages to vulnerable families, prioritizing the needs of my students. Through this project, I aspire to offer a lifeline to my students, helping them regain a sense of normalcy.

The copier paper and color paper will be utilized for printing their assignment. Non-perishable snacks will be distributed, stored, and consumed for my students, addressing the immediate need for sustenance in an emergency situation. My students get scared in the dark, having plenty of flashlights on hand will help them feel safe.
