This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach amazing students who are goal-oriented. They thrive in environments that challenge them and offer supports that push them to their highest achievement. Every one of them deserves the best education and that means, real-time feedback and multiple opportunities to get better.
This new era of technology and its integration into the daily lessons in the classroom has been a blessing, but it can create unforeseen drawbacks.
Having PowerPoint and Google Slides to teach helps with all types of learners but it also keeps the instructor at the front of the room. Having the iPad and Apple Pencils allows me to be more mobile. Mobility allows me to give feedback individually while moving the entire class along through the lesson. Having access to data that moves with me transforms my ability to reach all learners. This tech helps me be a better, more efficient teacher and translates into stronger, brighter, higher achieving students. The best learner is one who can take feedback and make their work better.
Please help me help these amazing kids get better. Having a new iPad allows me to move around the room and give my scholars individualized feedback and the ability to download and use many of the new Google add-ons that other devices don't support. The mobility piece while still teaching lessons is essential to the English II experience. Sites like Magic School Student, Diffit, and Everfi are better supported with an Apple product.
