Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working, enthusiastic, and have a love of learning. My students also attend a Title I school where all students receive free lunch. Their families do not have money for extras and some not even for basic school supplies which are needed for students to be successful.

We are a close community and we are the small urban neighborhood school consisting of only about 320 mostly minority students.

Most of our students walk to school and know the people that live around them well, especially those with children in the school.

My Project

Students will use the journals daily for writing. These bright journals will allow my class to have opportunities to write and create pictures to go along with their responses to help them visualize what they write.

This will support their creativity and also give them the daily practice that these young learners need.

Students and parents will also be able to look at their progress throughout the year and see how they've improved.

The easel, whiteboards, and supplies will be used during small instruction especially to work on writing. When students are able to get time in a smaller group they get the individualized instruction that will help them make the improvements. This is not always possible with whole group instruction.
