Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an amazing group of children hungry to learn. They are wonderful, loving children. They do well with structure and organization.
Some of them are having difficult childhoods.
They have many special needs but are eager to succeed. They enter the classroom each day full of energy and excited for what is in store for them on that day.
100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are working on improving student outcomes by reaching out to donors choose.
My Project
This trip will foster community building with teachers and students. The students will be able to participate in real world hands on science activities. The students will be participating in hands on science experiments, directions, nature walks, engineer design and community building.
The camp provides the children with an all day experience of hands on science learning and exploration.
The students will begin with breakfast at 8 a.m. and then move into morning field groups. In the field groups students will be examining the natural world, and social dynamics. The students will be broken up into small groups.and every morning they will focus on something unique to their locations. One field group may explore predator/prey relationships, while others may learn about the changes that happen over time to earth. Students will investigate ways consumers/producers and decomposers depend on each other. The main goal of the field trip is for students to understand the dynamics of interactions in the natural world, but also within themselves.
After field group students will partake in special interest classes. The classes vary greatly and are tailored to the curriculum in the classroom. Currently students are learning about physics and Newton's laws of motion. At nature's classroom they will be able to partake in an egg drop class where they learn about package design and how forces act on an object. this will help further their work in the classroom, when they have to design a car that will withstand during a crash. In English, students are writing poems and learning about poetry, and will be able to apply what they learn through special classes which will improve their poetry for the upcoming poetry slam. Students will be able to relate and make connections between real world exploration and classroom knowledge.
