My students range in age from 6-8 years-old. These wonderful, imaginative little minds are ready to soak up all the information and fun they are going to experience in my classroom.
My students deserve the best education they can possibly get.

My school has a very diverse climate in which socio-economic factors play a major role. Our free and reduced-price lunch population is 75%. Student enrollment is currently at 513 children. not including preschool enrollment. Approximately 53% of the population are male and 47% are female. About 4% of our students are in the gifted and talented program, 13% are considered homeless, and 14% of the school receive special education services.
We are given a budget of $100 per school year to fund all of our projects for the year. This alone barley covers necessities that my classroom needs. With most of the resources and manipulatives being purchased from my own pocket.
My Project
I am asking for twenty-nine subscriptions to Scholastic News magazine. These materials through Scholastic will benefit my students by having them read articles that can be related through real world scenarios. They will be able to connect many different topics that can improve reading comprehension in my students.
Reading and discussing the Scholastic Magazines will help my students make connections within the real world around them.
With the magazines my students will also be able understand how to use the magazine appropriately. I believe my students will be so excited and eager to learn each week because they will receive new magazines each week. They will be able to keep up to date with the events around them.
