My Students

I teach at a diverse elementary school in Los Angeles. My creative and innovative students thrive at our school and are highly engaged by our STEM focused curriculum. My students love to learn and I am inspired by their enthusiasm. I am consistently impressed by their commitment to working through challenges and their dedication to working together. In the classroom, I aim to create a learning environment that is both challenging and achievable. I want to build on their love for learning and inspire them to be lifelong learners.

My Project

The materials provided in the STEM “Real World Challenge” kit will give students the tools to work with their classmates to solve a STEM challenge. These highly engaging challenges, including saving a town from a flash flood and helping a family safely cross a bridge, align perfectly with our Science and Engineering standards. The materials included in the Comprehension Teaching Center and Read and Respond Using Evidence cards, give students guided practice with non-fiction text. Reading non-fiction is an important skill for children. Through non-fiction text, students learn new information and think critically with the information. They can extend their learning by problem solving and creating new ideas.
