As a graduate of this school, I am proud of the learning environment and support for students.
The programs implemented in the last ten years has truly changed the culture. Lawn areas have been transformed into edible gardens, complete with an amphitheater and stage. Homework Lab and Small Learning Communities are in place to ensure no students progress or lack of progress is unseen. Clusters for juniors and seniors direct students pathways aiding in post secondary exploration. The possibilities for faculty and students are endless. I am proud to be part of this phenomenal school and community. Casa Grande is a very diverse school, students understand expectations and can thrive if open to opportunities provided.
My Project
Using the document camera will allow me to model for students how to properly annotate primary documents, review an exam, or model techniques to improve their writing. Such as using the CCQC method where students are making a Claim, providing Context, a Quote, and the most important provide Commentary. For sophomores and juniors this can be a very complex task but effective way for students to methodically use evidence to support their claim. Using the document camera as a class we could annotate the document and use the CCQC method to create a paragraph. Then when students are released to work on their own, they have an example to work from. Students can easily use the document camera to showcase their work and explain their thought process on a particular assignment in real-time.
Students will be able to make relevant connections to the curriculum and improve upon 21st century skills by using the document camera to articulate their thought process.
The document camera will also support and allow for smooth transitions throughout the lesson. With increased efficiency and a new platform for students to share their learning, the document camera enables me to develop more meaningful pathways for student learning.
