My Project
My students are smart, capable, and full of potential—but many of them have yet to see themselves reflected in the books they read. In particular, my classroom includes boys who’ve never thought of reading as “their thing,” and Spanish-speaking students who are learning English while holding tightly to their culture and identity.
This project will help me bring in books that are relevant, relatable, and representative—stories filled with action, humor, cultural pride, and emotional depth.
From bilingual titles and Latinx authors to high-interest novels that speak to teenage boys, these books will show my students that reading can be powerful, personal, and even fun.
When students see themselves in a story—or when they’re simply hooked by a book they can’t put down—it can transform their relationship with reading. Your support will help me create a library that inspires them to read, reflect, and grow.
