Help me give my students a wide variety of materials to choose from as they create their businesses. It is important to have supplies that can get them started yet still give them ownership of the product.
I am a teacher that likes to bring in real world situations as often as I can. One way that I do this is through mini societies. Our classroom becomes its own society where we create a name, a flag, and have our own money system. Students work hard in the classroom doing jobs, staying on task, and helping others to earn money.
This project helps my students to understand and experience what it is like to have real jobs!
My students then get in groups or businesses to devise a plan for what products they want to create and sell. We have Market Days so my students can sell the products they have created to each other. In the end, my students learn valuable lessons about money and how to manage it.
My Project
Part of my job is to prepare students for their future. One way I do this is through Mini Societies. Students will learn the importance of our community and how money plays a huge role in it.
Students will use their learning to create a business plan and make products that they will sell to other students!
The materials help to give students ideas for their products. They will also have to manage their money to pay for supplies, rent a space to sell, have spending money if they choose, and still make a profit in the end!
