it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first-grade students are excited to be returning to school to learn together this year. They love sharing about their families, their hobbies, and their hopes and dreams. They are silly and playful and anxious to connect with each other after our pandemic year.
First graders are full of enthusiasm for learning, curious about the world around them, and eager to share their observations and stories from their lives.
They love to explore favorite authors in reading, tell stories from their lives in writing, and learn new math and science concepts.
The majority of students in my class come from low-income backgrounds. School is a safe place for them to learn and grow together and to create a supportive community.
My Project
I am requesting basic writing supplies which will help my students get ready to write on the first day of first grade. After almost a year of online learning, students are eager to get to work with real pencils, markers, and crayons in their hands. Writing will be a particular area of emphasis for us this year, but along with creating stories students also need to practice the basics.
My students will use these resources to practice their handwriting, work on their spelling and phonics, and draw self-portraits to celebrate the diversity of our community.
Because of safety precautions, each student will need their own individual writing materials: a workbook, a whiteboard, markers and erasers, and crayons.
