This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our program is dedicated to supporting students with special needs as they transition from high school into the adult world. Our students have completed their high school coursework and are now focused on gaining the practical, real-world skills necessary for employment and independence. We teach employability skills such as resume writing, filling out job applications, mock interviews, and workplace etiquette. Housed within a local supermarket, students participate in on-the-job training across multiple departments—including bakery, deli, produce, grocery, and customer service—where they practice and apply transferable job skills in a real-world environment.
To maintain a professional appearance and foster a sense of pride and unity, we are seeking funding to provide students with a royal blue polo shirt that our program logo will be added to.
These shirts will serve as part of their official uniform, distinguishing them from both supermarket staff and customers while promoting team identity and visibility within the store. Uniforms not only help set clear expectations but also build student confidence as they transition into adult roles. Your support in funding these polos will directly enhance our students’ training experience and support their growth into capable, employable young adults.
